Distinctive Plastics (DPI) takes quality control in manufacturing and assembly across our facility very seriously. Our quality assurance program is not in a book–it’s out there on the floor, with every team member and on every single job. All of our processes are developed and qualified using the Nautilus Scientific Molding program, and all medical-related projects are validated under the IQ/OQ/PQ. Our integrated ERP system offers real-time production monitoring and quality tracking throughout the facility. Supervisors on the floor perform checks every two hours, and operators hourly inspect their equipment.

DPI maintains a quality management system certified to the latest ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards. Our Integrated Quality Management System provides a comprehensive set of tools and capabilities. Included in the toolbox is Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Corrective Action Requests (CAR), Document Control, Deviation Tracking (MRB & NCMR), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Gages Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) Calibration, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Medical IQ/OQ/PQ process. These tools enable DPI to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with the most stringent quality standards.

Real-Time Quality Control in Manufacturing

At DPI, quality is a part of everything we do. Every time a job is run, a traveler is automatically printed out from our ERP system that follows the job from setup to delivery. This traveler contains order information, setup instructions, operation instructions, prints and even photographs describing the process. The information is constantly updated in the computer by the quality manager so that we have an ever-improving process. You can be assured that every time we run a job we get better, because the data gets better. We have taken the quality assurance out of the office and put it in the hands of the people who matter, the person operating the machine.
